One Year

Has it really been long enough for us to celebrate our One Year Anniversary?! It seems like just
yesterday we were heading to Collierville First Baptist church to start getting ready for our wedding day. If I close my eyes, I can still remember conversations I had, things I did that Saturday before we said I do.

We started the weekend in Manhattan for the Little Apple New Year's party at Aggieville. At Varney's, the big bookstore at the end of Aggieville they have a band set up starting at 10 PM
with a light show to follow the music. We are lucky we have important friends because we were able to be inside at the Varney's hosting party with a couple from our Bible study group out of the 15 degree weather until the ball drop on top of Varney's. Yes, we do a smaller version of the ball drop like the Big Apple NYC. Coach Martin, the KState men's basketball team came out to make the ball drop after a motivating speech ending with a salute to the crowd. We rocked it out for
about 30 minutes celebrating the beginning of a New Year before heading back inside to warm up and head home!
We had an early morning on Saturday because Todd surprised me with a night in Kansas City to celebrate our one year. We left Manhattan about 9 am to get to KC to watch the Alabama bowl
game and eat on the Plaza (a beautiful shopping and restaurant area). We watched the most dominating bowl game ever at the 810 Zone before going to check into our hotel across the street from the Plaza called The Raphael (a super cute boutique hotel). We were upgraded to a King suite so we lounged in our living room watching football that afternoon to stay out of the cold. For dinner we went to our favorite restaurant P.F. Changs on the Plaza then drove over to another area called Crown Center to go ice skating! It was FREEZING skating outside but so worth it. We had a blast and never fell once! I was quite proud of myself since I have only skated
one other time in middle school, but Todd still considers himself a pro since he used to play hockey in Philly. The next morning we packed up and went to brunch at a cute little cafe on the Plaza before doing some shopping and heading home back to reality.
Todd really made our first anniversary so special and we had a blast getting away just for a little
while to be on our own and spend good, quality time together away from everyday distractions.

We are so thankful that God has brought us through so many new things in just our first year
married together. These experiences we had through moving to Dallas 3 days after getting back from our honeymoon to moving to Manhattan 7 months later to restart everything again, God sure has been gracious in giving us such clear direction in how to follow His plan for our lives. We cannot wait for what this next year will bring us! We will keep you posted!
